Our Monster is Finished!

Our monster is finally built. We decided on a name.. Niggle! All the parts are still intact, even the balloon horns and bulging right eye! The feet are taking up the most space along with the jet ski that Niggle is riding. Our monster was among the first few posted on the Monster website.. see others at http://www.smithclass.org/proj/Monsters/ . Dr. Terry Smith, the head of the monster project, came to visit our classroom along with a newspaper reporter. We also had Special Person's Day at St. Paul where our grandparents and friends came to visit the classroom. They LOVED the monster and thought it was monsteriffic! So far the Monster Project and Niggle have been a success and we are hoping others enjoy him! The sixth graders have set the bar very high with their hard work and creativity for the classes that follow.  We recommend this project to other classes! We want you all to know that Niggle is a Cardinal fan and will be cheering them on tonight!!

Monster Creation!

Educational Subjects We've Used for the Monster Project!

We have been using school subjects such as math for measuring, art for creating, science for body parts, language arts for brainstorming and writing, technology, reading for definitions, and social studies and mapping skills to find other schools participating in the Monster Project!

Monster Progress Straight from 6th Grade!

We've been working with partners and in groups to create assigned parts of the monster.  We started by brainstorming and then started on the body and head first. The parts we have done so far are.. tongue, toenails, iPod, friendship ring, passport, head, lips, and body. Next we will, put the parts together by gluing, painting, and finishing up.
